Thank you to everyone that has ordered turkeys from us in the past. We are not offering turkeys in 2022. We recommend Osprey Hill Farm and Ten Fold Farm for your turkey needs this year.
How we raise our turkeys
Our turkeys are raised by one of our partner farms in a system similar to our pastured broilers. For the first few weeks, the baby turkeys (poults) are too fragile to survive out-of-doors. They live in a brooder house which is basically a structure designed to be a turkey nursery. They are then allowed to range on large sections of pasture using movable electric netting and a mobile shade structure. Their diet of pasture and bugs is supplemented with non-GMO, corn & soy-free turkey feed produced by Red Bridge Farm in Colville, Washington. Oak Meadows' turkeys make for fantastic Thanksgiving dinners or special occasion meals year-round.

Pricing and Deposit
Thanksgiving turkeys are available frozen with set pick up days in November. They are $6.00 per pound and range between 8 and 24 pounds. A $20 per turkey non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your turkey.
Why we sell frozen turkeys
We do not offer fresh turkeys for Thanksgiving because it is too cold and wet at the end of November for them to be outside. We raise them in the spring and summer when there is lots of grass and bugs for them to eat and then process and freeze them fast and hard to seal in freshness. Because we keep our turkeys frozen at very low temperatures (between -10 and 0 degrees), they taste just as good as a turkey processed the week of Thanksgiving.
Store bought fresh turkeys are not actually fresh
Most turkeys you buy in the store that are sold as "fresh" have actually been frozen for many months and have either been defrosted right before the sale or have been soft frozen meaning they were kept at 26-28 degrees. The USDA allows turkeys to be sold as fresh as long as they do not get frozen under 26 degrees. Here is a link to the USDA website talking about what fresh turkey actually means: Turkey from Farm to Table
We believe that because our turkeys are frozen hard when they are in their prime eating lots of fresh grass, they are better then any "fresh" turkey you can buy in the store.
