Oak Meadows Bulk Beef Shares
We buy the cattle for our beef shares from local farms around Whatcom county. Once they reach our farm they are one hundred percent grass-fed and finished. Our cattle are raised alongside our chickens in a unique rotational grazing system. The cattle go through the pasture first, grazing the grass down until it is only a few inches tall. We then let the grass rest until new young and tender shoots arrive. Then the chickens are moved through as they can only eat the younger grass. While the chickens run through the pasture, they help to sanitize and fertilize the soil. The chickens will scratch through the cow pies and disrupt the parasite cycle while ensuring the nutrients are evenly distributed to fertilize the pasture. The nutrients enrich the soil, which grows healthier grass, which better feeds the cattle and the cycle begins again. Healthier grass leads to healthier cattle which leads to more nutrient dense meat which ultimately leads to healthier people.
